EDAN Hub

By NewsNo Comments

As part of our collaboration with the Edinburgh Disability and Neurodiversity (EDAN) Hub, Tailor Ed has expanded its wellbeing services to include neurodivergent (with a diagnosis or on the diagnostic pathway) children, young people and their caregivers!

We are excited to offer wellbeing groups for CYP aged 5-18 who have identified neurodivergence or are on the diagnostic pathway. These groups are best suited for young people who have a reasonable understanding of neurodivergence as a part of their identity and would like to learn strategies for supporting their wellbeing. There will be 8 weekly sessions with up to 6 young people and 2 facilitators as well as 1:1 follow-up to groupwork to allow for individual reflection and support. The topics include special interests, habits, bodies and energy, sleep, emotional and sensory regulation, identity and community. Referrals can come from the young person themselves, a caregiver or a professional. For more information about the referral process and criteria, please click on the buttons below. Timings will be determined this January. We will also be running the CYP service in other community settings. For more information on this, please click here.

Support groups relating to a variety of topics such as sharing a diagnosis, energy management, emotion regulation, sleep, zones of regulation and gaming will be available for parents and caregivers of neurodivergent CYP as another part of the service. The first groups will run for 8 weeks from this week and will be held in-person and online. In-person groups meet from 10-11:30 AM at Number 6 on Fridays while online sessions are held from 8-9 PM on Tuesdays. Attendance at all 8 sessions is required only for in-person groups. Following groupwork, parents will also be able to access 1:1 sessions with our Family Support Worker for individual reflection and support. Click here to book a place (NOTE: the in-person group for this quarter is now fully booked).

Lastly, Tailor Ed is part of the collaborative offering 20-minute Next Steps Appointments to help parents and carers identify supports and services that meet their needs. These are on offer at the Yard and Barnardo’s. To book an appointment, click here.

Sponsor Tailor Ed’s Journey to Leith!

By EventsNo Comments

On Wednesday 9th October, the Tailor Ed Staff and Board will be coming together to travel the full length of the Water of Leith Walkway.

Tailor Ed Foundation was first founded in Leith in 2008 and it seems fitting that the staff of 16 make the journey across the full width of the City of Edinburgh, finishing up the 13 mile journey on The Shore in Leith.

We are hoping that our friends and supporters will sponsor our challenge and help us to raise some funds to support the essential work which the team carry out across Edinburgh and East Lothian.  Thank you for your generous donations!

Time Twisters Sessions and Summer Groups – Important Update

By NewsNo Comments

We want to update you on recent changes to some of Tailor Ed Foundation’s Services.

Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in securing our usual funding from Better Breaks. This means that we are unable to deliver the services previously funded by this money.

Time Twisters

We are no longer able to run our sessions at Time Twisters. Our last session will be Wednesday 29th May 2024

Time Twisters have stated that all Tailor Ed families are welcome to attend any of their other regular sessions. These can be booked online or by calling them directly. They have suggested attending on quieter or sunnier days as this is when there are fewer other people. They asked that we remind families that they are unable to offer additional staff at these other sessions.

We would love to see lots of our families on 29th May. Please speak to your Project Worker to arrange to join us as normal.

Summer Groups

We are unable to provide summer groups this year. We will continue delivering support, working with families individually, over the summer period.

We know that this news will be difficult for many of you and for your children. We are incredibly sorry that we are not able to provide these services and hope you understand this was a not a  decision we took lightly. Tailor Ed is not in a position to fund these services without considerable external income. We hope that by communicating these decisions as early as possible, families will have time to prepare for this ending and are able to support their children to understand this too. We are here to help – Please speak to your Project Worker if you need guidance or support explaining this to your children.

We know how much families value the sessions we provide and will be looking at ways to reinstate these in the future, if possible.

If you’ve any questions, please get in touch.
