As part of our collaboration with the Edinburgh Disability and Neurodiversity (EDAN) Hub, Tailor Ed has expanded its wellbeing services to include neurodivergent (with a diagnosis or on the diagnostic pathway) children, young people and their caregivers!
Funded by the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund (WFWF), we are excited to offer wellbeing groups for CYP aged 5-18 who have identified neurodivergence or are on the diagnostic pathway. These groups are best suited for young people who have a reasonable understanding of neurodivergence as a part of their identity and would like to learn strategies for supporting their wellbeing. There will be 8 weekly sessions with up to 6 young people and 2 facilitators as well as 1:1 follow-up to groupwork to allow for individual reflection and support. The topics include special interests, habits, bodies and energy, sleep, emotional and sensory regulation, identity and community. Referrals can come from the young person themselves, a caregiver or a professional. For more information about the referral process and criteria, please click on the buttons below. Timings will be determined this January. We will also be running the CYP service in other community settings. For more information on this, please click here.
Support groups relating to a variety of topics such as sharing a diagnosis, energy management, emotion regulation, sleep, zones of regulation and gaming will be available for parents and caregivers of neurodivergent CYP as another part of the service. The first groups will run for 8 weeks from this week and will be held in-person and online. In-person groups meet from 10-11:30 AM at Number 6 on Fridays while online sessions are held from 8-9 PM on Tuesdays. Attendance at all 8 sessions is required only for in-person groups. Following groupwork, parents will also be able to access 1:1 sessions with our Family Support Worker for individual reflection and support. Lastly, Tailor Ed is part of the collaborative offering 20-minute Next Steps Appointments to help parents and carers identify supports and services that meet their needs. These are on offer at the Yard and Barnardo’s. To book an appointment, click here.
